Become the Samurai in Trek to Yomi [Preview]
We otaku have always adored the idea of samurai. Bushido, the samurai’s way of life, has been mastered by these brave warriors for a very long time, and its lessons can still be unexpectedly useful in today’s society. We so naturally gravitate toward a game when it is published that respects the harsh reality of the samurai and really makes an effort to portray realistic themes and ideals. We can enter what appears to be a vintage black and white samurai movie or theatre and live out our aspirations of becoming a brave samurai on a quest thanks to the Trek to Yomi film by Leonardo Menchiari and Flying Wild Hog. The preview for Trek to Yomi is truly amazing, and we are here to make sure that you readers are prepared to pre-order this game because it has the potential to be one of the best releases of 2022!
Raise Your Sword, Samurai!
The ability to handle Hiroki, the main character in Trek to Yomi, immediately struck us as wonderful. You can play as both a young and an adult Hiroki in the teaser, but he is always a warrior with a penchant for the sword. Every movement, parry, and strike carries a slight weight. It didn’t feel clumsy or silly when we launched a flurry of strikes like many games comparable to Trek to Yomi. It seemed more like watching an action movie when our swords went toward an enemy and we either hit or missed them. We can only wait impatiently for the entire game to be released and experience this incredible gameplay in its most polished form because it is a peculiar but exciting sensation that, in all honesty, we hardly ever experience in many action games.
Gorgeous Visual Design
Most gamers will likely be surprised when they first see Trek to Yomi’s visuals. The world of this game with an old-school vibe has no colour, but it still has beautiful design and images. Running through a burning town or exploring a forest is enough to capture your attention visually. You can almost instantly picture the world of Trek to Yomi in your head without knowing what colour it is. That, in our opinion at Honey’s Anime, demonstrates the meticulous work that went into Trek to Yomi to create a setting that simply astounds the player every time they look at the screen.
Simple but Precise Combat
Trek to Yomi can be quite complex when combat gets heated despite using a very simple combat system that really only has a normal, heavy, projectile, and parry system. You might believe Hiroki will be overwhelmed while facing off against a single foe and be able to detect any impending danger in advance. Unfortunately, despite thinking that, we died a number of times. The enemies hit hard and can quickly drain your health with a few swings. You must constantly weigh your options between using a straightforward combo, launching a single powerful attack, and/or watching for the right moment to parry an attack. The stakes increase as more enemies are introduced in Trek to Yomi, and failing to attack or exhausting your stamina gauge will force you to restart the battle from the last shrine, which serves as a health and save system. On easy or normal settings, the trek to Yomi is simple, but the difficulty is increased. You’ll have the impression of entering a genuine samurai fight!
Before starting Trek to Yomi, put on some headphones or a great sound system. We can’t deny that this game has some fantastic audio, with energetic music and environmental notes. We had the impression of being in a bazaar when moving through the initial city, and when we were engaged in combat and encircled by foes, we could hear their yells and screams as they deliberated how to deal with our Hiroki. We are looking forward to exploring new levels and regions with even better audio in Trek to Yomi.
If we’re being honest, it’s rather challenging to put our experience with Trek to Yomi into words. Trek to Yomi resembles a five-star eating experience in many aspects. Speaking of what you tasted and felt won’t ever do it justice because the overall standard was above and beyond what can be expressed in words. Even though our time with Trek to Yomi was brief, we were left with so many emotions and feelings that we are hoping to obtain the complete title as soon as possible. One of the best independent games many of you will ever play is Trek to Yomi, and that is saying a lot.
