What to Expect
Gal Gun: Double Peace is an on-rail shooter with some intriguing mechanics that is a re-release of the PS Vita game with a major emphasis on echi. Players can prevent various female characters from consuming your character with their love by firing their “love” at them with a bizarre weapon called the Pheromone Shot. Gal Gun: Double Peace offers a variety of paths that, depending on how you play it, can alter the plot, the settings, and the final girl you’ll declare your undying love for! Gal Gun: Double Peace puts you in control of what it would be like to be an ecchi protagonist with a tonne of panty shots, odd groans, and ecchi settings set to max!
A young cupid angel is tasked with assisting a helpless young man discover his true love while on a training trip. Our cupid angel unloads a charged love shot that has disastrous consequences because a demon angel has her sights set on our main lad. While the female students at the school now find him impossible to refuse, this is a double-edged sword for our protagonist. He needs to find his soulmate before the day is through if he doesn’t want to be despised by literally everything that breathes. He needs to stop the women around him from literally crushing him with their love. Will you always be disliked and despised or can true love be found behind a tidal wave of panties, oppai, and gorgeous women?
Gal Gun: Double Peace was a game that was first released in 2015 for the PS Vita, which is everyone’s favourite almost forgotten handheld. This resulted in the 2016 release of Gal Gun 2, a sequel, as well as a port to the PS4 and PC! Gal Gun: Double Peace is coming back to us ecchi fans in 2022 on everyone’s preferred hybrid console, the Nintendo Switch. Should you continue to enjoy ecchi through anime or should you pay attention to this recently released rail shooter that focuses on ecchi? In-depth analysis of Gal Gun: Double Peace is forthcoming, so stay tuned!
Since many of you, we’ll assume, haven’t had a chance to play Gal Gun: Double Peace before, here’s a quick summary of what you can anticipate from this fanservice-heavy game. Assuming the persona of Houdai Kudoki, you’ve experienced a love shot that has turned you into a veritable magnet for oppai and girls who want to profess their sudden love for you in full. Although this seems like a fantasy come true, and in our minds, we wouldn’t mind this happening, your attraction has a serious repercussion if you don’t find your true love. Now that you have a potent weapon known as the Pheromone Shot, you can calm the insane girls nearby by hitting their “vitals” and injecting ecstasy into them. Yes, this is completely insane, but allow us to explain why playing this game would fulfil every otaku’s fantasy.
Gal Gun: Double Peace has you aiming while fixed on a predetermined path, much like older games like House of the Dead or Time Crisis. You fire your shot at the girls to score points, fill up your ecstasy bar so you can fire even more shots at them and see even more of them, and attempt to reach the level’s end. Gal Gun: Double Peace can be a challenging on-rail shooter even though it’s simple on easier difficulties because it demands quick movements and precise shots to truly stop these in love babes! If you let loose your ecstasy on your targets, you can even “touch” them! Although it sounds extremely naughty—and in a way, it is—the gameplay actually satisfies both your ecchi and your gameplay needs. Gal Gun: Double Peace is a tonne of fun, and with a variety of game modes, it has plenty of replay value.
There are two different gameplay options, including the silly but kind of endearing story mode and the score-focused Score Attack mode. However, those who simply want to demonstrate that they are the best at finding the ideal spot on a girl will undoubtedly gravitate toward score attack! We prefer the story mode because it offers multiple endings depending on your choices and paths taken in the game.
Gal Gun: Double Peace has its drawbacks. This title does appear a little stale. Gal Gun: Double Peace’s appearance has been slightly updated for the Nintendo Switch, but this shooter still screams 2016. We also didn’t find much use for the dress-up mode, which lets you admire your favourite women and give them different looks. This is reflected in the story mode, but most people won’t play this game for that reason.
Honey’s Gameplay Consensus:
Gal Gun: Double Peace hasn’t changed much from its original PS Vita release and that is a blessing to be perfectly honest. We love the on-rail gameplay to be found here and had a blast with the anime/ecchi-themed story! We do wish the graphics had been updated a tad more to reflect the current year but we understand that this isn’t a title you’re playing for high-end graphics. Gal Gun: Double Peace is for those who love on rail shooters and equally love the ecchi theme found primarily in anime!
- Excellent gameplay that is arcade focused on rail shooter greatness
- Tons of ecchi to enjoy
- Several paths to take makes replay value that much more rewarding
- Fanservice comes in droves for those otaku who want to live and breathe ecchi
- Visually not the best looking Nintendo Switch game
- Dress up mode feels a bit tacked on with how little it offers
Honey’s Final Verdict:
To be completely honest, the fact that Gal Gun: Double Peace hasn’t changed much since its PS Vita debut is a blessing. We enjoyed the anime/ecchi-themed story and the on-rail gameplay that can be found here. Although we understand that this isn’t a game you’re playing for high-end graphics, we do wish the graphics had been updated a little bit more to reflect the current year. Gal Gun: Double Peace is a game for fans of both on-rail shooters and the anime-specific ecchi theme.
