The anime will have a returning cast and staff.

The main season debuted on Tokyo MX, television Kanagawa, television Saitama, Chiba television, Gunma television, Tochigi television, Sun television, and KBS Kyoto in October 2021. Gunma Prefecture recently expressed it has plans to stream the anime online overall with Japanese sound and English, French, and Chinese captions after the transmission had wrapped up. The main season had 39 episodes with every episode running for seven minutes, and it circulated on TV three episodes all at once (likewise to how the Sazae-san anime airs). The last episode circulated in December 2021.

Mitsuru Hongo (Ascendance of a Bibliophile, Ban Star, World Trigger, Deltora Journey) coordinated and composed the anime at Climb (Dino Young lady Gauko). Karin Takahashi voiced the nominal hero Gunma-chan. Aya Uchida and Yui Ogura voiced Gunma-chan’s companions Aoma and Mimi.

The ongoing horse mascot appeared as the “Yūma-chan” mascot for a games contest in 1994, and turned into the prefecture’s Gunma-chan mascot in 2008. It supplanted a previous Gunma-chan plan that the prefecture utilized since the 1980s.
