What You Need to Know:
For the first time ever, Suzume no Tojimari, the eagerly await film from Makoto Shinkai, has a teaser trailer and new key art that have made public by the animation studio CoMix Wave Films, STORY Inc., and Toho Co., Ltd. (working title). In addition, the movie is slate for a November 11, 2022, theatrical debut in Japan. His two previous blockbusters, “Your Name.” (2016) and “Weathering with You” (2019), which receive unprecedented international acclaim, are follow by the upcoming movie.
As he continues to work on the picture, director Makoto Shinkai says, “We must consider how to close the many doors we left open.” “Suzume is in charge of closing doors as she travels across Japan, a task I gave her. My sincere wish is that after watching this movie, viewers will be filled with joy as they leave the theatre.
The movie’s teaser will debut exclusively on Toho’s MOVIE Channel on YouTube at 08:00 PM JST (04:00 AM PST) on April 10, 2022!
Moreover, a sneak preview of a frame from the movie will presented in advance of tomorrow’s teaser trailer. A small, abandoned hot springs resort town can seen there. A ryokan-style inn that has abandoned and left to decay is fill with curling ivy. The signs are pitted and rusted. Suzume moves through this dismal landscape in Makoto Shinkai’s “A story about closure,” as he puts it.
STORY
The entirety of time was on the other side of the door—
- Suzume, a 17-year-old from Kyushu, is on her first adventure when she meets a young man who says, “I’m looking for a door.”
- Suzume discovers a solitary worn door that remains upright and appears to have protected from whatever disaster occurred in the middle of the wreckage.
- Suzume goes for the knob, seemingly fascinated by its might.
All around Japan, doors start to open one after another, letting disaster fall on everybody nearby. These gateways must shut down by Suzume to avert greater catastrophe.

It appeared as though all of time had melted into the sky within that realm—
Suzume is about to embark on a journey after being drawn in by this enigmatic door.
KEY ART
The newly revealed key visual features are only accompanied by a simple “I’ll see you later.” Suzume, who is getting ready to leave for her journey, is holding a small wooden chair in both hands as she stands in front of a door with her hair pulled back in a ponytail.
