The First Slam Dunk Film Earns 6.7 Billion Yen in 1 Month

The Principal Sure thing, the new anime film of Takehiko Inoue’s Sure thing b-ball manga, has acquired 6.7 billion yen (about US$50.7 million) and sold 4.61 million tickets in the 32 days since the film opened in Japan. The film additionally remained at #1 for its fifth continuous end of the week.

The film positioned at #1 in its initial end of the week. The film sold 847,000 tickets and procured 1,295,808,780 yen (about US$9.50 million) over its initial end of the week.

The film opened in Japan on December 3. The film has IMAX screenings in 40 films all over Japan, and Dolby Atmos screenings in 34 films. The film included Dolby Film screenings December 10.
